Our Story
Smokes Seasoning, founded in late November 2020 by Nathan and Alana T is a small, privately owned company based in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada that developed, and distributes high quality, unique Barbecue Rubs and Seasonings
Nathan T having 26 years in the Road Building Industry developed a strong work ethic and good connection with hard working people. Being a serious back yard cook for almost 15 years, this hobby has developed into an all out love and obsession with Barbecue. Always looking to better skills & abilities, understanding flavour balance and outcome of final product has pushed to always try and best all previous cooks.
Visiting Central Texas and
tasting all the BBQ that we could handle, it was felt we had a great benchmark of authentic Central Texas Barbecue to build our new products against. This region of Texas is known for its simple use of Salt and Pepper and a few small variations with garlic and Cumin. It was learned that the simple use of salt and pepper was for the purpose of allowing the natural flavour of the Beef to be prominent, therefore the inspiration for our first and now flagship BBQ rub, Brisket Black. Brisket Black was created with one thought in mind, too heavily enhance beefs natural flavour without changing the flavour profile with the overuse of supplementary seasonings. A little over 3 years of adjustments, sample cooks, focus groups with feed back and most importantly learning the importance of flavour balance, we felt Brisket Black was ready for the Market.
To accommodate and prepare for Brisket Blacks Launch, a few months later, 6 more rubs were added to the line up, Cherry Chipotle, Pork Poultry, The Standard, Five Pepper Blend, Asian Spice and Jalapeño Salt. (With Chipotle Salt and Salt & Pepper rubs add more recently
We differentiate ourselves from the competition by offering uniquely flavoured Barbecue blends and seasonings using very high quality ingredients at controlled competitive pricing. Also, we work closely with our valued sales partners to identify the latest trends as to adapt and create new high demand products.
Smokes Seasoning is also available at 5 locations through out New Zealand and is offered now in Australia. Trusted, AustralAsia Representative Tim Stanway, committed to the growth of Smokes Seasoning,
has secured five of our products (Brisket Black, Cherry Chipotle, Five Pepper Blend, Chipotle Salt and Asian Spice) to have been enthusiastically picked up and carried by all 4 locations of BBQ’s and More found in Mt Wellington, Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Christchurch.
Currently our focus is on Brisket Black, the first to be launched within the huge Beef Barbecue community, starting with distribution through Stagg and Co (https:// www.staggandco.com.au) On March 19th, 2023, Smokes Seasoning attended the Meat Stock Festival in Melbourne, Australia’s largest Barbecue event. Our Barbecue rubs were introduced and very well received to many of the competition teams, distributors and major BBQ companies such as Green Mountain Grills Australia with most, on the spot offering interest in product distribution upon Brisket Black’s launch.
